The UW-Whitewater women's basketball team is coming off a solid season and will open its 2012-2013 ampaign ranked 8th in the D3hoops.com Preseason Poll. UW-W has six seniors on the roster that have played in the NCAA III tournament three years and won 20+ games each year -- so expectations are high. So head coach Keri Carollo doesn’t have to dig a basement or do any major building. With most of the team back that went 22-7 last year and finished one game out of the WIAC championship while earning a NCAA III postseason bid, a minor remodeling job is all that is called for.
The remodeling will come from the group that will fill the minutes necessary to play in Carollo’s up-tempo, pressure game. Along with four starters, a long bench is back, and UW-W added ten first year players that are not only the key to the future of Warhawk basketball, but the pieces that must fit in this year to meet those expectations.
